Luke Fischetti's Fundraiser
Ronald McDonald House in Huddinge, Sweden
Donate to help update a home away from home for sick kids and their families.
Hi, I am Luke Fischetti, a 16 year old from Long Island and I am proud to be apart of this special event and the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation.
All my life, I have given back to those less fortunate or in need and I have continued to do so through HLF. Personally, the RMH foundation really touches my heart because I believe no child and their family should have to go through such tough times like always being in a hospital, that is why this foundation is so important, it gives families a break from the hospital and a sense of normalcy in their life.
Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families with seriously ill children. The first House in Sweden opened in Huddinge in 1993 and around 650 families stay there every year. The House also has a nice garden and here the families can take a break, gather energy, and socialize.
Over time and since the House was built, the expectations of the House outdoor environment have changed. Previously, the same requirements were not placed on accessibility, and it was also not believed that the sick children would stay in the House but be at the hospital for the entire stay. Walking paths and ground surfaces around the House are therefore not adapted for accessibility and it is also not possible to get around the House with a stroller or wheelchair, due to stairs and a lack of proper paths in some places.
Ronald McDonald House in Huddinge is now planning for extensive groundwork around the House and in connection with that also adapt the playgrounds so that all children can use and enjoy the garden, regardless of mobility impairments. Please consider donating to help support this work.
Thank you for supporting HLF and RMH!
