I have been a member of HLFYA since 2019 when I was selected to be a YA. When I began my journey, I never imagined the path would lead me where it has. I began HLFYA as a young boy with no confidence and struggled with public speaking and allowing myself to show others what I was truly made of. My time with HLFYA changed my life, built my confidence and proved that no matter how young individuals are, we CAN and DO make a difference. HLFYA has provided countless opportunities to help me make a difference by supporting various independent service projects and forming community events for YAs to participate in. The support of the HLFYA directors is unmatched, and I am forever thankful for the enlightening experience I've had. My HLFYA journey led me to becoming the 2021 HLFYA President and the 2024 S.A.V.E. Scholarship recipient. Most people know Henrik as the "King of NY" for his time as the New York Rangers goaltender; I know Henrik as the "King of Compassion" for the dedication he, Therese and the HLFYA staff show to individuals - like me - who now know firsthand how community service positively impacts others.

CLAs play a crucial role and direct and indirect patient care to families and children facing high-acuity illnesses. CLAs are integral in fostering a family-centered care environment.
