Help Bring Robotic Pets to Seniors Living with Dementia

In loving memory of my grandfather, whose long battle with dementia took pieces of him before it took him from us

Hi, my name is Savina Alagna, and I’m a high school student working on a service project through the Henrik Lundqvist Young Ambassadors Program. This project is deeply personal to me; it’s inspired by my grandfather, who lived with dementia and sadly passed away. Watching him slowly lose parts of himself was heartbreaking, but I always saw how moments of comfort and connection could still shine through. So this is a tribute to my grandfather, lost to dementia, but remembered with every step of this project because his mind faded long before his heart stopped.

Through my research, I discovered something beautiful: robotic companion pets. These lifelike animals have been proven to reduce anxiety, spark memories, and bring joy to seniors with dementia, especially those in memory care homes who may feel lonely or confused.

I’m raising funds to donate these pets to local care facilities in my community. Each one costs about $140, and my goal is to donate as many as I can. Every single dollar helps.

If you’ve ever watched a loved one go through dementia, or if you simply want to be part of something kind, healing, and human, I hope you’ll consider supporting this project.

This is more than just a school initiative. It’s a tribute. It’s hope. It’s love.

Let’s create moments of joy for those who may no longer remember, but still deeply feel. In a world where memory fades, your kindness leaves a lasting impact, together, we can turn love into something lasting.

Thank you so much for reading, donating, and sharing.

Help me bring light to a place where it’s often forgotten, one pet, one heart at a time.💜
