This fall, I’ve chosen to dedicate my Individual Service Project to something profoundly personal: the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, an event my family and I will be participating in on October 4. After months of planning a different direction, I realized that no gesture could be more meaningful than supporting this walk, which honors the life of someone who meant the world to me, my grandfather. My grandfather bravely battled dementia in the final years of his life. Watching someone you love slowly lose pieces of themselves is something that never leaves you. His strength, spirit, and the love he gave our family live on in every step I take through this campaign.

As a Henrik Lundqvist Foundation Young Ambassador, I’m committed to turning this memory into purpose. I’m launching a fundraising campaign to support the Alzheimer’s Association, the same organization that hosts the walk. To raise funds, I’m designing custom t-shirts that will be available for purchase not only by my family but by friends, extended relatives, and supporters throughout the community. The funds raised will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association, helping fuel research, advocacy, and care for families affected by this devastating disease.

Additionally, I am working with the walk organizers to volunteer at the event, specifically in the Promise Garden, a powerful space where participants hold flowers representing their personal connection to dementia. It’s a space of remembrance, hope, and unity; all values that this project is built upon.

This campaign is more than a fundraiser. It’s a tribute. It’s about remembering those we’ve lost, supporting those still fighting, and walking toward a future where dementia no longer steals the people we love.

Can’t make it to the walk? You can still make a powerful impact; a donation in any amount brings us one step closer to a world without dementia. Even if you can’t walk beside me, your support still walks with me. 💜
