Faceoff For The Future
Donate right now to help us reach our goal raising money that help support employment of people with special needs.
Hi, my name is Jake Hershkowitz, and I am a 9th grader at Roslyn High School. I was selected to become a young ambassador for the Henrik Lundquist Foundation (HLFYA). As a young ambassador, I am responsible for planning an independent service project.
For my project, in partnership with the HLFYA, I have created “Faceoff for the Future” to raise money to support organizations that benefit future employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. My brother Ryan was born with a rare disability called Williams Syndrome. When people are born with disorders like Williams syndrome, it is often hard to get a job. Two foundations that support the employment of adults with special needs are Smile Farms and Creative Spirit. These charities are essential to me because I want Ryan and others with special needs to have as many opportunities for employment as possible. My goal is to raise at least $1,500 in support of the work of these organizations.
I play in the North Shore PAL hockey league along with many others as a goalie. The goal of Faceoff For the Future is to raise money for these two foundations to keep supporting the employment of the disabled with the help of the Henrik Lundquist Foundation. I hope to combine my love of hockey with my passion about supporting and providing opportunities to help others in my community.
