Provide patients sick with COVID 19 the opportunity to speak with their families

Hi, my name is Nathan Blum, and I am a junior at SAR High School. I was lucky to have been given the opportunity to represent the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation as a young ambassador. Henrik Lundqvist has been a goalie for the New York Rangers for over a decade, and in 2014 he decided with his wife, Therese, to create the Henrik Lundqvist Foundation. The foundation aims to make a difference for people throughout the world by improving health and education opportunities. In that spirit, as a young ambassador for the foundation, I would like to raise money to purchase iPads and tablets for patients sick with COVID 19 at Montefiore Medical Center.

COVID 19 has been devastating, particularly in New York City. Unfortunately, many patients sick with COVID 19 have to say goodbye to their loved ones as soon as they enter the hospital, with some patients dying without being able to communicate with their families. COVID 19 is so isolating and lonely, the inability to communicate with loved ones at such critical times takes away from basic human dignity. Obtaining iPads and tablets for patients at the hospital would allow many of these patients to video chat with their families in such difficult times, which I believe is essential for patient morale. Right now there is an urgent need for tablets and iPads, but if this need becomes filled the money will go to the Montefiore Critical Response Care Fund toward other essential items for the COVID 19 response, such as personal protective equipment, supplies for patients, and COVID 19 research.
